Shruti R Karnalkar is a 23 year old student from India. She is the core volunteer of her team for the M4M program 2021 3.0 batch III. Her participation in the M4M volunteer program has been a stepping stone to raise voice for mental health issues and concerns.

She has been a volunteer of the MeforMyself Campaign since 2020. She wants to let people know the mental health matter and is an important topic to speak on in every stage of life. She thinks Mental health has long been an issue of concern, but due to a complete lack of awareness, there are very few cases where individuals are willing to help those who are in need. Mental Health Awareness is the best way to empower individuals to “light their way” to better mental health, happiness, and improved well-being. Through M4M, Mustabsheera hopes & speculates that we provide a timely reminder that mental health is crucial and that those living with mental health issues are deserving of care, understanding, compassion, and pathways to hope, healing, recovery, and fulfilment. Passionate in youth engagement, she has participated in several international conferences as a youth representative from Indonesia, such as being group leader of Climate Action and Sustainable Lifestyle at YOUNGA 2021 in leading 250+ youth, one of the contributors in Global Youth Statement prior to COY16 & COP26 on Energy sector, and delegate of Regional Dialogue on Climate Action by UNDP. She completed her graduation last year.She joined this program because mental health has become an increasingly important topic. Due to not talking about this issue and not being aware of this issue, 90 out of 100 people are suffering from various mental health problems. There is no shame in talking about mental health. It’s the most important thing of all. By participating in this program, she has learned why mental health is really important, how to take care of mental health and how to make people aware of mental health. Doing all of the tasks and assignments, she has learned how she can keep her mental health beautiful by doing small things in daily life. M4M is really a great program for mental health. She thinks every teenager and student have to participate in this program. She is really happy to participate in this program and is thankful to all M4M team members.

During this CoVID-19 pandemic, mental health has become a most important topic to talk about . In Nepal suicide cases has raised from 8.5% (before pandemic) to 19.4% in first four month of lockdown . In the same way anxiety, depression and other mental health related issues have increased worldwide. She says, “ often people get confused over mental illness with other diseases because the mentality of people is not improving. They feel that every disease should have some symptoms just like cough, sore throat, fever and many more which can be seen by the people. That’s why they give less importance and attention to mental health because symptoms are unseen and it really hits hard. Pema Choden is a youth advocate from Bhutan passionately creating awareness on youth-related issues. She has had the opportunity to work with young people both in Bhutan and across the Asia Pacific. Pema advocates on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, Comprehensive Sexuality Education. She has a strong record of leadership and working experience in international organizations like UNDP and Y-PEER Asia Pacific Center. Pema’s zeal for volunteerism and passion to bring change through active participation in social awareness and advocacy programs allowed her to work on diverse fields like Y PEER, Young Girls Circle and Me for Myself. Pema was also a part of the team who developed the first national e-course on SRHR and GBV in Bhutan and facilitated various programs in these areas including NTOT, TOT and sensitization. She says that mental health is inherently linked with SRHR issues and the need to address them is of utmost importance which is why, she decided to join M4M to advocate on mental health to her peers.

Tenzin Wangmo Lepcha is one of the active core member of YPEER Club in College since 2019. She is final year student currently pursuing BCom honor in Gedu College of Business Studies, Chukha Bhutan. She is very keen in socializing with everyone so, in order to achieve her interest, she participated in ME4M E-course. In the journey of her E-course she learned volunteerism as her best way to upgrade the skill for herself as well as for the others especially rendering the service to people with mental health by creating a peaceful work environment.

Mr. Dewashish Bhattarai is an aspiring writer and a poet. He has been raising his pen for youths and common citizen. He is also an activist for mental health who has been conducting camps around the country. Beside from mental health he also has been teaching life skills to numerous children and youths. He has worked with different organization like UN, VSO, NYC as an volunteer for different activities including equal rights, mental health and self improvement campaign.

Mr. Chung Ku, is a core member and Mentor of Me for Myself (2021). He is currently serving as Assistant Student Service Officer and GCBS Y-PEER Advisor in Gedu College of Business Studies, one of the Government Colleges in Bhutan. As he is zealous in building positive relationships with youths, for the past 4 years he (As Advisor/Guidance) has been supporting youths in learning and has better intellectual outcomes. His curiosity in coordinating physical programs/events has undid success and recorded as many achievements. He actively participates in M4M to learn, share experiences and conduct programs relating to mental health in his native places.

Anuja Rajbhandari, age 27 from Nepal is a volunteer at M4M campaign 2021. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health and is working as a Filed Researcher in HERD INTERNATIONAL Pvt. Ltd. For her, mental health is something beyond a state of being that affects our thoughts and emotions on a daily basis, it is also how we understand ourselves and our emotions, how we respond to them, and how we learn and bounce back from many setbacks that life throws at us. She believes that by using this platform, she would be able to raise awareness and advocate regarding different mental health issues. She hopes to make a positive difference in the field of mental health.

Ms Rounok Jahan Khan is a young activist, social entrepreneur, an educator and a climate action advocate from Bangladesh. She is passionate about mental health, quality education, community development and environmental protection. She has been volunteering with several non-profit organizations that provide access to quality education and environmental literacy to people from marginalized communities. She is now working on core energy systems education and building projects & leadership skills for young people to take action on the energy system. She believes mental health is more important than physical health. A happy soul with a physical disability can do many things whereas a depressed mind may struggle doing things done even if they have good physical strength. Therefore, mental health should be our prime priority. Self-care and happiness should be is a necessity.
